Voting starts this week for the next year’s Associate Students of Cabrillo College Student Senate.
Meet the candidates running for senate positions:
President
Sarah Castor: an international student from Brazil, majoring in psychology and music production.
“Together, let’s build a community that prioritizes fairness, accessibility, and safety for all.”
Maurice Moreno: aiming to foster more inclusivity and to support the Watsonville campus.
“My primary goal is to represent the student body’s best interests and facilitate positive change on campus.”
Vice President
Michaela Nachazelova: an international student from the Czech Republic majoring in Economics and Business.
“Every student deserves an equal opportunity to succeed and I am committed to helping students have access to the resources and support they need to succeed.”
Student Trustee
Cody Jarvis: aims to lead the improvement of community college students’ experiences not only at Cabrillo but also across the state.
“If elected as your Student Trustee, I will work with other Student Trustees across the state to reactivate the Student Senate for California Community Colleges (SSCCC) Student Trustee Caucus.”
Treasurer
Roise O’Connor: passionate about students getting connected with each other and having the resources to do events and projects.
“Student Mental Health is at an all time low, and I believe that the main reason is because of a lack of community, and I want to solve this by empowering students to create clubs, events and organizations to bring each other closer together with things they care for.”
Jared Keith
“I’m a capricorn libra libra so trust me with the money.”
Inter-club council chair
Elena K Houle: aims to keep clubs informed and engaged with campus-wide activities and events and to advocate for more club support.
“As the ICC representative at Cabrillo College, my primary goal is to enhance collaboration and communication between clubs, the senate, and the student body.”
Director of public relations
Alejandra Castro Alvarez
“I want to be able to help and represent our student’s voices when it comes to events happening around our campus and community.”
Bianca Alves: an international student from Brazil, passionate about creating a sense of belonging for every student.
“With your support, I’m committed to working hard to represent all of us and make our college experience unforgettable.”
Senator-at-Large
Angela Caparas: a first-year student.
“I hope to be an asset and a help to my community and school through helping make big decisions to even the smallest ones with the best interest of my peers in mind.”
Jasper Ortiz-Carranza: pursuing a certificate in construction engineering management.
“I am running for the Senator-At-Large position, because I would like to advocate for my fellow students and be more involved with the college community.”
George Little: an incoming freshman for 2024-2025 who previously attended San Lorenzo Valley High School in Felton.
“When you elect me as one of your Senators, I intend to work with the other members of the Senate and the faculty of Cabrillo itself in order to represent you and your interests to the end of improving the Cabrillo community at large, serving as a voice for you all, the esteemed students of Cabrillo College.”
Vivianna Moreno: through committee involvement, aims to address both internal and external concerns, ensuring the community’s voice is heard.
“With sincerity and dedication, I’ll work tirelessly to create a more inclusive, supportive, and engaging environment for all members of the Cabrillo community.”
Health & Wellness ambassador
Andrew Richmond: aims to foster an increased sense of community on campus.
“As Health and Wellness Representative for the Student Senate I will continue to advocate for the wants and needs of students at Cabrillo.”
Antoinette Soto: aims to help students and give back to the community.
“I am running for student senate as a health and wellness ambassador, as part of the Student Senate, I’ll focus on making Cabrillo better by listening to students and I want to make sure that the students are aware of all the valuable services and resources that Cabrillo has to offer.”
Voting is available online and in-person:

- April 30, at the Aptos Campus, Library from 10AM -1PM and CTC from 2PM-5PM
- May 1, at the Watsonville Campus, RM A100 from 10AM-1PM and 2PM-5PM
- May 2, at the Watsonville Campus, RM A100 from 10AM-1PM and 2PM-5PM
