The Cabrillo College student senate election results were announced on Thursday, but very few newly elected leaders had anything to say to the press. What should have been a joyous and talkative moment turned into a rushed hustle of students seemingly dodging questions by reporters.
Bianca Souza, the new Public Relations Representative for the 2024-25 year, declined to comment, as did Sarah Castor, the new president.
However, the newly elected Vice President, Michaela Nachazelova, had plenty to say about her new position within the senate and was eager to share with the public.
“I hope to listen to student requests and hopefully make changes that would make it better for international students because we have specific requirements to meet,” she said.
Elena Houle was elected the Inter Club Council representative. Her duty will be to supervise clubs on campus and report back to the student senate. Houle is also responsible for ensuring communication between various programs and the senate.
“The student senate hopes to serve students and continue voicing student concerns by making the students feel heard,” Houle said.
