The Cabrillo Seahawks baseball team continues to defy its 22-21 record, defeating the 31-14 Santa Rosa Bears on May 9th with a score of 9-4 in the first game of Super Regionals. Cabrillo looks forward to maintaining its hot hitting on Friday, May 9th, against Chabot College, which finished its season 31-11 and currently sits on the verge of elimination in the two-game knockout tournament.
The Seahawks never found themselves behind against Santa Rosa, having taken the lead in the third and building on it throughout the game. Highlighting Cabrillo’s offense was left fielder Bobby Cobine, who had a two-run home run, three RBIs batting 3/4. Shortstop Anthony Karaginnopoulos contributed a home run and two RBIs, batting 2/4. Lastly, Matt Lawton had a two-run homer, batting 1/2.
It is believed that Friday will be a doubleheader, in which the results of other games will determine who Cabrillo will play after Chabot. If Cabrillo wins both games, they advance. If the Seahawks split those games, they would play a sudden-death game on Saturday, May 11th.
And with back-to-back losses on Friday, we would see our Seahawks eliminated.
