The Cabrillo men’s basketball team qualified for the state tournament by upsetting the 2-seed San Francisco City College Rams Saturday night on their home turf in San Francisco.
The Seahawks won a close game, with an ending score of 81-80. They move on to play Fullerton College in the first round of the state tournament at 7 p.m. Friday at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
The San Francisco Rams had the ball in the closing seconds of Saturday’s game with a chance to win it, but Cabrillo forward Solomon Tucker was all over the final shot, blocking the ball in the paint. Cabrillo guard Darius Best got the loose ball and ran out the clock.
Best led the team with 18 points, nine rebounds and a block. Tucker finished with nine points, six rebounds, three blocks and a steal.
