The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk will resume selected rides, including the Giant Dipper roller coaster, starting Thursday, April 1. Rides have been shuttered for a year except for a brief reopening in October 2020.
Santa Cruz County has entered the orange tier as of March 31, allowing many businesses and attractions to begin reopening with limited capacity. The Boardwalk will be serving California residents only.
Advance purchase of ride wristbands for specific days is recommended. Daily walk-up wristbands may also be available but depend on capacity limits. Season pass holders will also be able to make reservations for specific days.
“We look forward to reopening rides to California residents in a manner that ensures the health and safety of all Boardwalk guests and employees,” said Boardwalk spokesman Kris Reyes.
Reyes also recommends checking beachboardwalk.com for the latest information, as operating hours will be changing frequently in the weeks ahead.
The Boardwalk is currently open daily with free admission.
