Cabrillo offers home laptops for students in need as classes go online—other help available

Last updated on May 12, 2020

Cabrillo students in need of a computer for attending online classes can now apply to borrow one via an online application form. To secure an on-loan computer through the end of the semester, click here and fill out the request form.

Cabrillo President Matt Wetstein reported that the cache of Chromebooks and other laptops were purchased thanks to some generous donors and other funding located by school administrators. Wetstein is hoping to be able to offer monetary assistance to students who qualify in the near future.

With on-campus classrooms being closed since March 16, most classes have been convened using Zoom Video remote conferencing service. Class attendees can appear in the virtual classroom via webcam if they choose, and can communicate via voice or typed messages in a chat window.

Emergency drop-class requests are also possible during the coronavirus lock-down for students who are unable to complete classes due to the crisis.
